Dear Community Friends:

Plans are underway for the 2019 Galveston Firefighters Children’s Mardi Gras Parade!

This community event attracts hundreds of families who are treated to a fun filled afternoon of educational information, childrenís parade activities and entertainment. This yearís theme is "A Salute to the Safari." The 2019 parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 3rd, at 3 p.m. starting from 25th and Santa Fe Place. The parade will proceed down Postoffice Street to 19th, turn North and continue to Strand St, turn West down Strand Street and conclude at 25th Street.

Historically, community organizations and businesses actively participate in and contribute to this event. Through your collaboration and support we can provide this unique fun family event that inspires children with culturally rich experiences. Each year our theme provides an opportunity for families, school groups and organizations to research and experience the theme topic, through crafting floats and creating costumes that portray history, literature, and other exciting topics which enrich their lives and the community as a whole. This event is solely dedicated to children and their opportunity to participate in Galveston Islandís culturally rich annual Mardi Gras event. This year marks the fifteenth anniversary, and each year we continue to improve and grow.

Please accept this letter as your invitation to be involved in this community project. There are several ways to participate:

  • Sponsorship
  • Underwriting (floats, throws, riders, band, historic posters for floats)
  • Donation (monetary or in-kind)

Your sponsorship will be recognized before and during the event. Sponsors will receive logo recognition on the website and will be listed on the official parade banner. In addition, top contributors may enter a float in the parade and receive VIP guest passes to a parade balcony party the day of the parade, which will be located on 23rd and Strand from noon until 5:00 p.m.

The Galveston Firefighters Childrenís Mardi Gras Parade is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing children an opportunity to participate in Galveston Islandís culturally rich annual Mardi Gras. The organization maintains a 501(C)(3) status and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
